Funds raised support: Funds from the R. W. Meyer Family Cookbook will go towards the restoration of the 1854 R. W. Meyer historic and ancestral home, the oldest in Molokai and one of the oldest in the State of Hawaii. Rudolph Wilhelm Meyer was born in Hamburg, Germany in 1826. He graduated as a civil engineer specializing in hydraulics and surveying. He arrived in the Kingdom of Hawaii in 1850. He worked diligently, introduced new methods of agriculture and ranching and served in the Hawaiian government in a variety of official capacities. He designed and operated his own sugar mill which is listed on the National and State Register of Historic Places. He married the High Chiefess Kalama and together they raised a family of 11 children.

- 8 lbs. boneless pork, cut into sm. pieces 1 1/2 inch thick
- 1 c. white vinegar
- 1 c. cider vinegar
- 2 c. water
- 1 1/2 bottles pickling spice
- 1 (10-oz.) pkg. Portuguese sausage, diced
- Dash of cumin
- Garlic, pepper, Hawaiian salt, crush together, to taste
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Combine well all the ingredients together except the pork. Marinate the pork in the vinegar mixture in a non-metal container for at least 24-48 hours in the refrigerator. Fry in pan with oil, or bake in a covered pan for 30-45 minutes.
