Keeneland Bread Pudding with Bourbon Sauce

  • Bread Pudding:
  • 1/2 gal. milk
  • 2 c. sugar
  • 2 tsp. vanilla
  • 8 eggs -- beaten
  • 2-3 qts. cubes white bread
  • 1 c. golden raisins
  • 1 T. ground cinnamon
  • Maker's Mark Bourbon Sauce:
  • 1 lb. butter (soft)
  • 2 lbs. powdered sugar
  • 1 c. Maker's Mark bourbon

Bread Pudding: whisk sugar into milk until dissolved. Add eggs and vanilla and stir. Soak bread in mixture for several hours or overnight. Pour into large Pyrex dish or stainless steel pan. Sprinkle with raisins and cinnamon and "push" into mixture. Bake at 350 degrees for approx. 1.5 hours or until firm. Bourbon Sauce: Let butter become soft at room temperature and add powdered sugar. Whip bourbon into mix until it becomes the consistency of frosting. Ladle sauce over hot bread pudding and it will melt on its own. Serves 10-12.
